I've been watching your Vlogs since the beginning. In my opinion, this is one of the best, if not the best, videos you have released! Keep them coming.
Everyone predictably very impressed with the drone. Maybe it is because my mood having soured after having listened to Trump`s moronic rally appearance, but I actually thought the camerawork stole too much of the attention from what it was supposed to film. Johannes, and the fact he was having a not too pleasant time in pouring rain. The way the camera drone flew all over the place like a fly, pushed Johannes and the exercise he was doing completely in the shadows. I think a better use of the drone would have been to slow down the speed of it, giving us a better impression of how tough the exercise was under conditions like these, showing us both the rain, and the strain and determination I assume had to be visible in Johannes` face to motivate himself to do this under these circumstances. And if the drone sometimes had flown in knee-hight immediately behind Johannes, we would have gotten a more accurate impression of his speed, not just the drone`s. After ali he was supposed to be the center of attention here. As the clip is, it is a vast difference between what Johannes says from the booth of the car after he has finished, and the impression the drone and the music score creates for the viewer while watching. Johannes, as a motive, got too small and slow, compared to the speed and the scope of the camera. This type of drone probably is ideal for filming Formula 1, WRC rallies and similar. But a bit too much speed and height to do justice to a single performer powertraining in awful conditions. In my opinion, the point of new techniques and equipment is to improve the story - not overshadow it. Drones are excellent to obtain angles and perspectives you otherwise couldn`t have gotten on film. But at the same time the illusion of it being just another camera like any other is important to maintain, otherwise the camerawork - and not the story - takes center stage. Which I think is what happened here. I honestly would have preferred more focus on the powertraining session, and the effort, discipline and resolve needed to finish it in conditions like these, delivered through the camera first, and then confirmed by Johannes` voice afterwards. In my opinion that would have made it one story, rather than two - one starring the camera drone, Johannes vaguely visible, almost as an extra, in most of it - and one where Johannes tells about the powertraining afterwards.
